I was fortunate to return to the Philippines' City of Smiles during the first week of October 2011. The streets of Bacolod City were vibrant with the upcoming celebration of the MassKara Festival. During my four-day work for a television coverage, an all-day and night shoot scheduled during the first day of my arrival was imperative.

During the day, our regional staff toured us to some of the sights and must-see landmarks of this charming city.
We went to the Bacolod Public Plaza where some stalls were offering snacks and quick meals. As much as we wanted to grab a bite, my crew and I were rushing before the sun goes down but vowed to return at night and enjoy some delectable eats that are readily available at the Bacolod Public Plaza.

Night time comes, we strolled the Bacolod Public Plaza dazzling with lights and was in the mood to party all-night with dance music playing aloud. There were several MassKara Festival items from accessories and a variety of MassKara designs. But the food lover in me passed up the opportunity to buy any masks and looked for something to satisfy my palate.

A few steps from the San Sebastian Cathedral, the sight of this yellow-colored thin concoction caught my attention. I asked the two male vendors if what they were selling was crepe and both were looking for answers to my query. My colleague and friend Ate GG blurted, "anak pancake lang yan" (loosely translated : child it's a pancake). It seems to be funny now as to why would I thought that crepes will be sold as a street food but the thinness was very much similar to a crepe though it was cooked in a waffle-like open pan. The pancake was vibrant yellow and with very simple ingredients - flour, evaporated milk, sugar and margarine. Will the latter help in making me taller? Not really, but it sure satisfied my curiosity of how it tasted. Just a piece would do, as the margarine was over-powering for my taste.

March 26, 2012 Davao City, Davao del Sur, Philippines
STADIUM BUFFET RESTAURANT AND SPORTS LOUNGE : DAVAO CITY'S ALL-DAY BUFFET RESTAURANT
This is the first post of Eat To your Heart's Content's Monday Madness. I wanted to kick-off with something comfortable, meals that are not intimidating and an ambiance that sets them apart from their neighboring restaurants. So allow me to share with you one of my most memorable dining experiences in Davao City.
Back in 2010 when I heard about Stadium Buffet Restaurant and Sports Lounge, I instantly wanted to visit this new sports-themed restaurant. So when I visited Davao City in the last quarter of that year, I did not hesitate. Upon arriving Francisco Bangoy International Airport, my beau and I headed to this interesting themed-dining destination.
My eyes aglow as I spotted its facade beaming with vibrant hues of yellow, red and blue. As we entered the premises, a young lass greeted us and just a foot away was an array of all things delectable.
The restaurant is comparatively small compared to Manila's sports-themed restaurants like National Sports Grill in Makati City, but it surely did not disappoint its buffet breakfast offering. Priced at Php129, you get to savor a variety of dishes and desserts to perk your morning.

Slices of white bread which you can toast yourself, white rice, a number of viands like sausages, beef loaf coated in eggs, pork & beans, and sauteed kangkong. Wanting something piping hot? Enjoy your create-your-own Mami noodles where you get to choose how much ingredients you put - julienne cut pork, carrot cut into strips and spring onions. Drinks like coffee is not part of the buffet though.
For sweet lovers like myself, I extremely enjoyed the banana cake and maja blanca in bite-sized squares while fruit lovers can partake the laid out fruits in season such as fresh watermelon and pineapple slices.
STADIUM BUFFET RESTAURANT AND SPORTS LOUNGE is an all-day buffet offering breakfast at Php129, lunch & dinner at Php149 and Merienda with eat-all-you-can Halo-Halo at Php99.

Eat To Your Heart's Content features Monday Madness. So what is this all about? It may be a certain dish that I could not stop salivating over and over. Perhaps a restaurant, cafe or even just a food joint that I go crazy - positive crazy that is, not a place where I would want to engage in amok because of a maddening experience with their dishes or worst their waiting staff. It may be about a dining destination worth a visit - notwithstanding distance, time or weather.
