EAT TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT : SWIRLS FROZEN KEFIR AT SM MOA

What I like about SM MOA is the extremely numerous variety of choices when it comes to munching, whether you're dining in any of their restaurants, getting a quick fix at their kiosks or savoring sinful desserts or going on a healthy food trip. I stumbled at Swirls Frozen Kefir when I was craving for something healthy other than yogurt.

Swirls Frozen Kefir prides that they are healthier and tastier than yogurt. Well, healthier? I am not a nutrition expert, but it definitely tastes better than yogurt. It's similiar to Yakult (which I absolutely loved as a kid) but with a consistency of frozen yogurt. Plus like most popular frozen yogurt outlets that have been sprouting over the few years, Swirls Frozen Kefir can also be combined with your choice of toppings, and they do have a guide to help you mix and match flavors.

Swirls Frozen Kefir recommends five flavor combinations, Kiwi and Muesli, Strawberry and Honey Almonds, Blueberry and Almonds, Mango and Crushed Graham, Dragon Fruit and Granola.

A cup of Swirls Frozen Kefir with almond shavings and walnuts

Initially tasting Swirls Frozen Kefir, I went for the safe side, frozen kefir plus almond shavings - just enough to get the real taste of this alien product for me. It was light, seemingly Yakult-like in taste and not sour which I really loved. I did not even get a twitched in my tummy - the way when I eat yogurt, particularly the truly sour kind.

Numerous toppings at Swirls Frozen Kafir

They also have other toppings you can choose from - walnut, banana nut clusters, as well as mini choco drops and triple chocolate crunch.

EAT TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT : BROOKLYN PIZZA

Tomas Morato in Quezon City offers a myriad of flavors you can choose as you please, and there are times when your braincells could not decide, you have to let your taste buds to do the work. Craving for pizza, I headed to Brooklyn Pizza.

Brooklyn Pizza's bright interiors

With a promise to offer a slice of New York, sans the designer everything - from embellished top to skinny jeans, high-heeled boots and a six-digit high-end bag like how New Yorkers strut, I entered Brooklyn Pizza and was warmly welcomed by their staff. The place has a vibrant appeal, with wooden furnishings, red and black colored chairs to their brick walls at the back of their counter.

The wait staff hurriedly brought their menu as my friend and I decided to share a 14-inch pizza. The staff offered us to avail of their promo - buy any flavored pizza (14" or 18") plus 1.5 liters of Coke and you get free Buffalo Wings worth Php185. Not bad for a deal so we gave in to the temptation.

Brooklyn Pizza's Deluxe Pizza

We opted for their Deluxe Pizza which is one of Brooklyn Pizza's best-selling flavors. Generous portions of Italian sausage slices, ham, pepperoni, bacon, green bell peppers, onions, mushrooms and slices of pitted black olives abound this humongous hand-tossed and baked to a perfectly thin dough (Php520 for 14" and Php720 for 18").

Brooklyn Pizza's Buffalo Wings

To add zest to our pizza dining pleasure, our free Buffalo Wings was coated in Brooklyn Pizza's hot-sauce recipe and secret spices then fried to a crisp. The Buffalo Wings possess a tempered "hotness" as their hot-sauce recipe did not go overboard that will make you want to scream. This dish is served with eight pieces of wings, but don't get disappointed when you see that these eight pieces are actually just four pieces of the usual chicken wing ensemble - the little wing arm plus the mini "leg" which is used for chicken lollipops. The taste spells the difference.

With this Brooklyn Pizza's promo, our total bill was only Php599 and though I did not quite get the feel that I had a slice of New York, I was more than satisfied with their deliriously delicious pizza, bite after bite after bite.

Kudos to the two lady staff, both were knowledgeable with their offers and are very efficient with their service!

EAT TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT SAVORS SIMPLY BREAD BY CHEF ANDREW

When hunger pangs strike, there is nothing you can do but - give in. With the numerous kiosks that abound the metro, it has been as "natural" as breathing air when you see people eating at the mushrooming kiosks outside train stations or near bus stops. Forgoing any regard to high standards of food quality, where dust and germs are extremely prevalent in such open places, its comforting that there are still some quick-fix you can buy that are delicious and sanitary.

Located at the ground floor of Puregold Jr. in Sucat Road, I spotted a kiosk with a spanking red logo by the name of Simply Bread by Chef Andrew. The title "chef" that followed the name Andrew would instantly connote two things, that the breads are of good quality and the pastries would be flavorful.

Two chicken varieties instantly caught my attention, their Chicken Empanada and Chicken Tart. Both are quite filling and pretty delicious. The Chicken Tart was creamier while the Chicken empanada had bigger chicken pieces. It came as a surprise though that I saw some corn kernels in the empanada, I am only used to carrots or bell peppers and potatoes as extenders. Both snacks are in the Php20 range and I am definitely going back to buy these as pasalubong (take home) and sample their other products.

Check out Simply Bread by Chef Andrew's other deliriously delicious offerings and savor their goodness in every bite. As I always say, Live Well, Laugh Often, Eat To Your Heart's Content!

EAT TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT : MORNINGS AT TAGAYTAY CITY's BAG OF BEANS

Whether it's just a regular weekend or a long one, the proximity of Tagaytay City to Metro Manila makes it a convenient weekend sojourn for anyone wanting to unwind. Amidst the cool crisp air, my friends and I started our weekend getaway with a hearty breakfast to pump us for a long day of adventure. There are numerous dining places in Tagaytay City but only few deliver sumptuous breakfast meals without breaking your wallets. And when craving for delicious English pies, there is only one place to head to - Bag of Beans, the home of English pies and breads when in this bucolic ridge.

Bag of Beans has evolved through the years. You would be surprised that their seemingly small bakeshop along Aguinaldo Highway has so much more to offer. To the left (if you're facing their bakeshop), you have to walk down the stairs. Lo and behold, what welcomes you, aside from their house bird, are several spots where you can enjoy your meals with your buddies.

Two indoor areas at Bag of Beans

Al fresco, the garden is all yours, you can also opt for their Pavillion with about six tables and a collection of souvenir pieces from Asian travels. Another room is like a large living room with long heavy wooden tables and chairs with white throw pillows. This room is made lovelier with fresh flower blooms displayed in various areas. Though indoors, you will still enjoy the cool breeze outside with their giant inclined screened windows surrounding you. Though I feel homey at this third area, we dined al fresco to commune with nature.

Bag of Bean's Omelette

What's good with Bag of Beans is that they have an all-day-breakfast menu so you can enjoy their numerous hearty breakfast at your whim. I sampled their Omelette (Php275) made with three eggs, mushroom, tomatoes, onions and cheese. The omellete is served with your choice of sausage or bacon plus bread and butter on the side.

Cinnamon & Raisin Bread

Bag of Beans is known for two things, their Cinnamon & Raisin Bread and their English Pies so to taste was a must. The Cinnamon & Raisin Bread (Php80) was addicting - aromatic and beautifully laid on our table. Each slice was filled with raisins and you know it was freshly made since it was soft and not airy.

Bag of Bean's Sheperd's Pie

Your decision-making skills will have to be tested when choosing from their pies, they offer Beef & Veggie, Steak & Kidney, Chicken & Vegetable, Vegetable Pie, Apple Pie, Mixed Fruit Pie, Pineapple Pie and my all-time-favorite, Chicken Empanada. Their best-seller would have to be Shepherd's Pie which comes in two sizes, single (Php105) and family - 9 inches wide (Php420).

EAT TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT REVISITS TSOKO.NUT BATIROL

Is it just me or is Tsoko.Nut Batirol addicting? Dining pleasure never stops at Tsoko.Nut Batirol with their numerous concoctions. I have shared in this site of their truly delicious chocolate cakes, whether made from milk chocolates or the ones from tablea, two distinct flavors but both sinfully mouthwatering chocolate cakes.

Inviting wall at Tsoko Nut Batirol

Coming back over and over at Tsoko.Nut Batirol defies monotonous dishes and desserts as they are not only about chocolates. As the -Ber months enter, it would be wonderful to indulge with two of its iconic food delights, bibingka and hot chocolate. But at Tsoko.Nut Batirol, you can savor their Bibingka and hot chocolate drinks all-year-round.

I am a Bibingka fan made from Tsoko Nut Batirol

Tsoko.Nut Batirol's Bibingka is made from the freshest quality ingredients. Every order of bibingka is made with ground glutinous rice that is freshly steamed and topped with salted Duck egg, a slice of melting butter and fresh grated coconut on the side. Because it is made with the traditional ground glutinous rice, you feel your right at your home during your younger years and your grandma just handed you her homemade bibingka. Since it's quite filling, you can share this with a friend during merienda (snacks) time or have this for your brunch.

Can't get enough of this Ensaymada with Quezo de Bola from Tsoko Nut Batirol

Another well-loved snack and one of my favorites, Ensaymada that is so soft its akin to eating a perfect chiffon cake - smoother. Tsoko.Nut Batirol's version intensifies your ensaymada eating pleasure as they use quezo de bola instead of just cheddar cheese. A sumptuous rich cream binds the ensaymada and the strips of quezo de bola. Paired with their hot tablea blends, it's a sure hit!

A hit for me! Dinuguan with Puto from Tsoko Nut Batirol

Third on my list, but definitely not the least is their Dinuguan with Puto. Tsoko.Nut Batirol's version is made with a thick sauce - dinuguan sauce which is basically pig's blood that has been crushed and slow cooked with tons of chili. Many foreigners will definitely dislike this dish but it is absolutely delicious. The well-proportioned pork fat and pork meat plus the presence of chillies is such a comfort food. Paired with rice during lunch or dinner, dinuguan is traditionally paired with puto (also made with glutinous rice).

Check out TSOKO.NUT BATIROL's other deliriously delicious offerings and savor their goodness in every bite. As I always say, Live Well, Laugh Often, Eat To Your Heart's Content!
