DESSERTS UNLIMITED
What I like about SM MOA is the extremely numerous variety of choices when it comes to munching, whether you're dining in any of their restaurants, getting a quick fix at their kiosks or savoring sinful desserts or going on a healthy food trip. I stumbled at Swirls Frozen Kefir when I was craving for something healthy other than yogurt.
Swirls Frozen Kefir prides that they are healthier and tastier than yogurt. Well, healthier? I am not a nutrition expert, but it definitely tastes better than yogurt. It's similiar to Yakult (which I absolutely loved as a kid) but with a consistency of frozen yogurt. Plus like most popular frozen yogurt outlets that have been sprouting over the few years, Swirls Frozen Kefir can also be combined with your choice of toppings, and they do have a guide to help you mix and match flavors.
Swirls Frozen Kefir recommends five flavor combinations, Kiwi and Muesli, Strawberry and Honey Almonds, Blueberry and Almonds, Mango and Crushed Graham, Dragon Fruit and Granola.
A cup of Swirls Frozen Kefir with almond shavings and walnuts
Initially tasting Swirls Frozen Kefir, I went for the safe side, frozen kefir plus almond shavings - just enough to get the real taste of this alien product for me. It was light, seemingly Yakult-like in taste and not sour which I really loved. I did not even get a twitched in my tummy - the way when I eat yogurt, particularly the truly sour kind.

They also have other toppings you can choose from - walnut, banana nut clusters, as well as mini choco drops and triple chocolate crunch.
Check out SWIRLS FROZEN KEFIR's other deliriously delicious offerings and savor their goodness in every bite. As I always say, Live Well, Laugh Often, Eat To Your Heart's Content!

When ice cream indulgence comes to mind, I can only think of one thing - HAAGEN-DAZS ICE CREAM. Despite the mid-week rush with work, one of the best things to unwind is to chill and savor your meal - as for me, Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Buffet was my salvation.
Haagen Dazs Ice Cream Buffet anyone?
Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Buffet comes in two choices - Php499 with Eat-All-You-Can Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream and Php599 with Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Buffet and Eat-All-You-Can pastries. At a given time, you can choose from Haagen-Dazs' 16 divine flavors - Belgian Chocolate, Cappuccino Truffle, Cookies and Cream, Strawberry and Vanilla, to name a few.
The Mechanics for the Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Buffet and the Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream & Pastries Buffet is simple. First order, the attendant will tell you the store's flavor for the day for your first scoop (during my visit, they were offering Chocolate) and you get to choose for the next two scoops available from the 16 flavors. After your first serving, you get to order two or three scoops of your choice and the attendant will serve this on another bowl.
Haagen Dazs ice cream paired with this delectable triangle-shaped waffles
For the pastries, you can order one pastry at a time, but for waffles which is prepared for about eight minutes, you can have this ordered in advance. Two triangle-shaped waffles come with a miniature white ceramic filled with maple syrup. Choose your pastries wisely, as you would not want to over stuff yourself with just pastries and not enjoy your multiple scoops of Haagen-Dazs ice cream. Pastries available are brownies packed with macadamia nuts, waffles, crepe and cookies.

Crepe and Haagen Dazs ice cream, how can you not go nuts?!
For my first serving, I opted for a scoop of Macadamia Nut and Chocolate Truffle plus the store's choice of Chocolate on a bed of freshly cooked crepe. Second serving was a scoop of Strawberry Cheesecake and Coffee. Third serving was Strawberry and a scoop of Chocolate Midnight Cookies. Aside from combining different-colored ice cream flavors for photo-op purposes, I made it a point to get contrasting flavors if possible and I think I made the right combinations. Macadamia Nut and Chocolate Truffle - the roasted macadamia added texture in contrast with the velvety smooth chocolate truffle.
Complementing flavors - Strawberry Cheesecake and Coffee
Strawberry Cheesecake and Coffee - the strawberry cheesecake in itself was complex with the freshness of the strawberries, the luscious cheesecake and graham bits so when I added a scoop of Coffee the aroma was simply addicting and the taste lingers in my mouth.
Haagen Dazs' Strawberry and Chocolate Midnight Cookies
Strawberry and Chocolate Midnight Cookies - the strawberries are intensified but never overpowering the richness of the cream while the second scoop triples the chocolate sensation with milk chocolate ice cream, mouthwatering chocolate sauce and dark chocolate cookies.
Raspberry Sorbet and Green Tea, two interesting Haagen Dazs ice cream flavors
At this point, I was satiated with all things chocolate despite the combinations mentioned and to cap this delightful Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Buffet, I had to cleanse my palate. Raspberry Sorbet and Green Tea. I am not a green tea fan and there was an aftertaste with every spoonful. But the raspberry made this tandem quite a pair. Not only aesthetically, slightly sweet but it was refreshingly good.
What's best with this Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Buffet and Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream & Pastries Buffet? Unlike most buffets around the country which has a designated time, their offer lasts all-day, everyday. From the moment the store opens until it closes - referring only to one store, that is at SM Megamall's Atrium. To date, the Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Buffet and Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream & Pastries Buffet does not have any expiry date. Nevertheless, I am planning to return.
Update : By the end of August 2012, Haagen Dazs Ice Cream ceased its Philippine operations. Read more about it in this article "Haagen Dazs Bids Farewell."

For chocolate lovers out there, who has not tasted Old Swiss Inn's Toblerone Chocolate Fondue? Toblerone chocolate melted to a rich, thick, creamy consistency resembling a chocolate ganache will surely create a wonderful dining ending in this 70-year-old establishment. A choice of milk, dark and white, their Toblerone Chocolate Fondue is served with a platter of fresh fruits like bananas, apples and mangoes, butter and chocolate chiffon cake cubes and multi-colored marshmallows. I just have not tried their fondue with strawberries which would be a definite palette pleaser!

A popular communal Swiss dessert, chocolate fondue is great for bonding moments with friends and family whether you want to celebrate a special occasion or simply hanging out and catching a chat.

Facade of Sebastian's Cold Comfort at SM MOA
For quite sometime, many who flocked to the Katipunan area have been raving about Sebastian’s Cold Comfort – even food writers and columnists in major food-related magazines. But no matter what was written, I just could not drag myself to that area just to get a scoop of ice cream. It took me quite a long time - six outlets have already put up, before I was able to try this ice cream craze.
I finally saw a Sebastian’s outlet most convenient for me – in Glorietta 4 and SM MOA. Creator Ian Carandang, inspired by his favorite ice cream Ben & Jerry’s have experimented in their family’s kitchen at a tender age and after numerous kitchen tests, he was able to perfect the recipe with about a hundred flavors.
A luscious Mango Ice Cream concoction
Sebastian’s Cold Comfort, though a bit pricey – a scoop is double the price of commercially available ice cream brands we have known over the years, still manages to attract clients with discriminating tastes who prefers a richer and creamier ice cream concoction with every scoop.

Cozy interiors of Gelatone at Greenbelt, Makati
Fresh made gelato, efficient staff and a cozy ambiance, spells the Gelatone experience. Located at the 2nd floor of Greenbelt 3, with only 50 square meters, Gelatone can be an intimate spot to bond with friends over a scoop of gelato.
With a play of words from “gelato” and “one” – with one being the first that comes to mind, Gelatone is pronounced with every syllable, very Italian sounding indeed.
Various gelato flavors on display
I spoke to one of the owners during my initial visit and Teresa Songco prides of their gelato made from fresh ingredients where fruits are sourced locally and imports authentic Italian products. Pasteurized milk, cream, skimmed milk and sugar are processed and mixed with about 40 flavors that are served in rotation at the store. Bestsellers are flavors of Mango, Bubble, Pistachio, Strawberry and Chocolate made with Fererro.
Aside from gelato, Gelatone also offers pasta and panini for a hearty snack or a light meal just before you indulge in your favorite fresh made gelato.
Teresa with son Paolo who is the operations manager has been very thankful for the patronage of their gelato products and regularly creates promos for their regular clients to enjoy. I shall be posting these promos when the time arises.

Blueberry flovored yogurt at The White Hat
During the last few years of the past decade, the metropolis was invaded by a craze – what is known as Fro-Yo which practically everyone knows as frozen yogurt. The White Hat was one of the many choices.
During my second visit to Cagayan de
Oro City (popularly known as CDO) last November, I was attracted by the
whimsical logo of a bright yellow and brown with a cartoon face of a
young lady. Many Cagay-anons will know what I am referring to, it’s the
Missy Bon Bon Breadshop located at Rosario Drive in LimKetKai Center.
Established at the busy street of P. Burgos in Cavite City, Subi Monte Café is the brainchild of a young couple, Sherm and Melanie Morano. Caviteño yuppies turn to this relaxing place, at the end of a tiring workday. The boldly red-painted interiors somehow helps lift one’s spirit after a gruesome day full of deadlines and stress at the workforce.
