TAGUM CITY’S BANANA BEACH RESORT

A JEWEL IN DAVAO REGION

Tagum City's Banana Beach Resort
I have visited Davao Region's Davao City a number of times and I am constantly captivated by its beauty and bounties. In my previous written works published in various food and travel magazines, I have even entertained the idea that Davao would be a good place in the event I relocate and felt the need for a better place after my overly stressful work in the field of television production.

Every visit to this jewel in Mindanao, I search for new cities and islands to explore. During my last trip to Davao region, I hopped on a cab from Davao City Airport and traveled to Tagum City, just 45minutes of land travel without traffic. Why Tagum City? I wanted to visit Banana Beach Resort, said to be the only beach resort in the world, found in a banana plantation.

Located at Madaum Village, approximately 25 minutes from the city center, is Banana Beach Resort managed by the Hijo Estate Resorts. With three dining areas, the restaurant, part of Lanikai and The Spot - Banana Beach Resort is a splendid place to unwind.

Fishing at The Spot located at Banana Beach Resort
The Spot offers fishing and crabbing for enthusiasts and your choice of fish and crab dishes can be concocted for your eating pleasure. Fortunate that during this trip, they have just introduced crabbing for their guests to enjoy.

Sandwich creations at the Restaurant of Banana Beach Resort

During this visit, I sampled some of their restaurant’s appetizers and sandwich creations but the highlight was the Banana Beach Burger with Egg made with 100% lean beef grilled to a tee and paired with Banana Chips instead of fries. Be warned, this is no ordinary banana chips, as these were harvested from their own banana plantation, this is the literal sense when one says “fresh out of the farm to table.”

So if you plan on visiting this city in Davao region, check out Banana Beach Resort to chill in one of the six air-conditioned casitas, stroll in the verdant garden with colorful blooms, fishing and crabbing at The Spot, bask in the glory of the black sand beach and fill your tummies with delicious creations inspired by the Mindanao tribes and flavored with Davao's famous exotic fruits.

  5. Tagum City looks like a wonderful vacation destination. I love the thatched roof and the beautiful gardens. The food looks absolutely wonderful! I bet the flavor difference of a fresh banana compared to the store bought is incomparable!
