EAT TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT SAVORS EDSA SHANGRI-LA'S SENJU

Senju's Crazy Roll

Honestly, I never fancy Japanese food - raw Japanese food. No matter how good they look and stylishly they were presented.

So when my friends Michelle and Ronald checked out EDSA Shangri-La Hotel's Senju, we were hesitant to taste their creations.

After exchanging laughs with Chef Toshi, who animatedly told stories of how he started in the culinary world - from merely peeling vegetables and washing rice and eventually rose from the ranks, traveling to different parts of the world and finally heading EDSA Shangri-La Hotel's Japanese restaurant - Senju, we could not say no to his equally colorful dish - Crazy Roll.

As crazy as his stories, he's creation was a work of art - cooked seasoned rice envelops the delicate flavor of prawns and seemingly rolled into orange and emerald green-colored caviar then topped with strips of kani that has been mixed with mayo and wasabi. This Crazy Roll was garnished with more brightly colored caviar. The taste? It was an explosion of flavors and textures - from the crisp texture of the caviar to the complex flavor of the combination of mayonnaise and the pungent wasabi plus the freshness of crustaceans. We went crazy by practically consuming the entire log!

I hope you would check out their deliriously delicious offerings and savor their goodness in every bite. As I always say, Live Well, Laugh Often, Eat To Your Heart's Content!
